Sexy, powerful, and immortal, Limos is on a crash course with destiny. She’s been marked as Satan’s bride and her jealous fiancĂ© wants her all to himself. The only way this Horseman can keep herself—and everyone else—safe is to keep her distance. But not even Limos can save herself from the secrets she’s kept . . . or resist the seductive allure of one very brave human. Arik Wagner knows the saying “love hurts” better than most, yet he never thought stealing a kiss from Limos would land him in Hell. Literally. It takes all his military training to survive the demon torture, but once he’s topside, Arik realizes that the agony has just begun. With the Apocalypse looming and Satan demanding his bride, will Arik and Limos surrender to the desire smoldering between them? Or will giving in to their passion unleash Hell on Earth?
Having heard Larissa Ione's name bandied about by some of my favorite authors and bloggers (oh, Twitter. You're such a temptress, always talking me into Moar Books!), I jumped on this book when it appeared in NetGalley. And I'm glad I did.
Limos is one of the Horsemen (women?) of the Apocalypse but Arik just can't help himself when the opportunity to kiss this lusty woman presents itself. Too bad for him he's immediately snatched and taken down to Hell for a marathon torture session. When Limos finally gets him back, she has to use all her smarts and wiles to help him recover and return to the teasing, tempting man she fell for.
While at times, this story was a bit too busy character-wise (I prefer the focus to be on the main characters with secondary characters playing, well, a secondary role), IMMORTAL RIDER was a dark and sexy fantasy novel worth cuddling up with.

I haven't read Ione yet but I've heard great things. I'm curious - as far as adult series goes, which would you recommend I read. The only ones I've read are JR Ward's BDB, Moning's Fever series, and the first few Chicagoland Vampire books by Neill.
ReplyDeleteThis series is on my TBR! After I met Larissa last year I decided that I must read her :) I will---darn it I will!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh I still need to read this series! I really enjoyed her Demonica series (those books were HOT), but I have yet to pick these books up. MUST CHANGE THAT. I understand what you're saying about it being character-busy, I've run into that before (a lot of times with the Black Dagger Brotherhood) where the focus shifts to the side characters, and as much as I love them, I just want to get back to the main couple:)
ReplyDeleteI've heard about this author too but I confess I've never read her, mostly because I'm kind of paranormal-ed-out.
ReplyDeleteBut I like the idea of a woman being a horse(wo)man of the apocalypse, that's different. I totally get you about the too-busy character wise, I hate when that happens.
They sound like a hell of a couple. Love a bit of hard earned romance.
